Contours and Blends - Tutorial by Susana Paredes
by
Helen Cruickshank
The tutorial is 49 pages long with over 150 colour photographs and is aimed at advanced beginners to experienced polymer clay artists. I would say that you’d need some experience working with polymer clay; how to condition clay, use a pasta machine and make a Skinner blend. Everything else is explained well.
Summary: This tutorial is well worth buying and is good value for money. It teaches you Susana’s method of mokume gane, gives recipes for 7 of her own colour recipes, and shows 7 variations of her method. It offers scope for originality and experimentation, yet you do not need to be an experienced clayer to get wonderful results as it’s very easy to follow, has many colour photographs, and if you use her colour recipes, in any formation, they will work together. The only suggestion I would make is to number the pages once you’ve printed them as they aren’t numbered and it’s easy to muddle the pages once printed.
