In 2011 when looking in my craft cupboard for some colourful buttons, I came across some I had made as a teenager. Not being able to find the style or size I wanted for my crochet projects, I started making more buttons and this led to my renewed love of polymer clay.
In 2012, an opportunity arose to attend a business course specifically designed for creative start-ups. It was at this point that I downed the crochet hooks and embarked on learning as much as possible about polymer clay as an artistic medium, particularly after a yoga teacher friend asked me to create 'meditation anchors' for her students. My kids named them Peace Pebbles and they have been a best-seller ever since! Known as Zizzi to my family, I decided to call my fledgling business Bizzi Zizzi.
I joined the British Polymer Clay Guild via the South Midlands branch run by Fiona Abel-Smith and Ange Smith. It's a fun lively group and there's always something new to learn.
In 2014 I was approached by the editor of Making Jewellery magazine to write polymer clay tutorials.
I join the BPCG Committee in 2015 as website administrator and have been working hard behind the scenes to update the website and promote the guild on social media sites.
In 2017, I was accepted onto the board of the International Polymer Clay Association as Guild & Group Liaison for everywhere except USA!
When I get time, I have ambitions to write more tutorials, run workshops and create more than just buttons, beads and pebbles. So watch this space!
