I first came across polymer clay in the 80s as a teenager, but stopped ‘playing’ when I went off to University. I rediscovered clay a year ago, and was totally and completely re-bitten by the bug. I’m still very much a beginner but am starting to develop a preference for clay sculpture and my absolute polymer clay heroine is Maureen Carlson. Since joining the Guild at the beginning of the year (2011) I’ve met many fellow polymer clay addicts and have enjoyed representing the guild at exhibitions and meeting even more people who feel as excited about clay as I do.
In ‘real life’ – I’ve worked in universities for several years but have just embarked on a change of career and am currently studying to become a Career Guidance Practitioner. This is a mixed blessing as it’s very interesting but takes me away from my clay!
