We had quite a busy time with plenty of enquiries, queries and BPCG website address slips given out. A few people had had our workshops at the top of their ‘shopping’ lists but were disappointed that we could not hold them this year due to the shortage of staff on the stand. This was partially because key people were either on holiday or had other commitments, and a lack of further volunteers*.
Normally at Miniatura the Guild supports Cancer Research via donations from the workshops, but as there were no workshops I donated some of my rejects/seconds of the products I make. For a donation people could take an item. I had made up two bags, one for Saturday and one for Sunday, but had to break open Sunday’s bag on Saturday as the contents of the first bag were disappearing so quickly. Saturday’s donations totalled £75.51, and Sunday’s came to £10.75.

I would like to thank the three people who did volunteer to man the stand with me. Special thanks go to Mary - not only NOT a guild member, but has no interest in polymer clay and her only knowledge of it is what she had seen me doing with it.
Let’s hope the next show in Spring 2011 is better and the workshops are back on the menu.

* If you have an interest in dolls’ house and miniature items, you might like to consider helping out with the stand in the future. All volunteers get free entry into the show (this year tickets were £11 on the Saturday and £7 on the Sunday), and can visit the rest of the stalls during the day. Although the BPCG are not allowed to sell any items for profit (because Miniatura allow us to exhibit free of charge), it is a great opportunity to showcase your own work and to share tips with other Guild members during the day.
Miniatura is held twice a year and if you would like to volunteer for either of these events (even if just for half a day), you will be very welcome. Please fill in the contact form below if you are interested in helping. New members are just as welcome as established members – it is a great opportunity to meet other Guild members, and to learn new polymer clay techniques.
