Hobbycrafts Exhibition November 2011
On the 3rd to the 6th of November the Polymer Clay Guild had a stand at the Christmas Crafts and Hobbycraft Exhibition held at the N.E.C. in Birmingham. Allan Marshall made all the arrangements and set up the stand on the Wednesday with Angela Smith's help. He was also there at the crack of dawn on each of the following four mornings to man the stand for the day.
Penny Vingoe, Carole Field and Coby Schrijver helped out on the Thursday and Friday, and Angela, Debbie Bulford and Fiona Abel-Smith were there all weekend. I arrived Sunday to find our tables looking very impressive, nicely laid out with jewellery and miniatures and the odd dragon as well.
Angela, Fiona and Debbie all demonstrated during the day and what a treat that was - we had crowds watching with many people standing so long I thought we should have provided chairs. There was a lot of interest in all the pieces that were on show too, with many lovely comments, and many questions about how they were made.
For myself I had a wonderful day, between talking to all the interesting people who wanted to know about the clay and classes, and I had the privilege of watching three experts, demonstrating all sorts of techniques, giving tips and encouragement to everyone.
Many thanks must go to Allan and the other guild members who helped, for all their hard work -- without them we could not have had a stand.
